Caralluma rubiginosa, described by Werdermann, is an East African succulent characterised by the rusty-reddish colouring (rubiginosa) its stems acquire under direct sun exposure. It inhabits semi-dry savannahs and thorny scrublands of Tanzania and Kenya.
