Spotted-flower Caralluma
A succulent from the Cape region (South Africa) originally described by Masson and recombined by Schlechter. The name 'punctata' (spotted) refers to the striking spots or dots adorning its flower petals. Inhabits the fynbos and succulent karoo, arid Mediterranean environments with dry summers and rainy winters. Stems are low, prostrate to erect, grey-green, quadrangular. Flowers are the showiest of the species, with petals covered in red, purple, or brown spots on a yellowish background.
