Caralluma frerei G.D.Rowley
Frere's Caralluma
Succulent endemic to the Western Ghats and the Maharashtra and Goa coast (India). Taxonomically singular: originally described as Frerea indica Dalzell (1865) and later as Boucerosia frerei before being transferred to Caralluma by G.D. Rowley. Unlike most carallumas, its leaves are persistent and fleshy, a primitive trait within tribe Stapelieae.

"Main synonymy: Frerea indica Dalzell (1865) — the name used in older Indian literature — and Boucerosia frerei (G.D.Rowley) M.G.Gilbert. The persistent leaves make it unmistakable within Caralluma s.l."
