Caralluma joannis Maire

Joan's Caralluma

A North African succulent described by René Maire, also known under its combination name Apteranthes joannis. Inhabits arid and semi-arid zones of western Morocco and north-western Algeria, in the Middle Atlas and foothill plains. Its stems are quadrangular, erect, greyish-green with purplish patches, and its five-lobed flowers are yellowish-green to brownish with dark mottling. An attractive species for collections due to its relative hardiness and ornate flowers.
