Aromatic shrubby succulent native to the Arabian Peninsula and Horn of Africa. Its fleshy stems and greyish leaves emit a characteristic resinous fragrance.

"'Cacalia odora' Forssk. is the historical name (1775). The currently accepted name is 'Kleinia odora' (Forssk.) DC. (1838). Notable as one of the few strongly aromatic kleinias, with documented use in traditional Yemeni and Somali medicine."
