Cacalia articulata L.f.
Candle Plant
Cacalia articulata L.f. is the historical basionym of the popular collector's plant known as the candle plant or sausage plant. Described by Linnaeus filius (L.f.) in 1782, it is a deciduous succulent native to southwest South Africa, characterized by cylindrical articulated stems, glaucous blue-green, that wither in summer and re-sprout with lobed leaves in autumn-winter. One of the most widely cultivated Asteraceae succulents in the world.

"The name Cacalia articulata L.f. (1782) is the historical basionym. The modern accepted name is Baculellum articulatum (L.f.) M.A.H.Stace & Puttock (2017) under the most recent classification, or Curio articulatus (L.f.) P.V.Heath (1997). Also known as Kleinia articulata (L.f.) Haw. and Senecio articulatus (L.f.) Sch.Bip. This is the same species as Cacalia articularis Salisb. (RN-CAC-00002), which is a later homotopic synonym."
