Bryophyllum manginii (Raym.-Hamet & H.Perrier) Nothdurft

Beach Bells

Trailing succulent native to Madagascar, currently recognised as Kalanchoe manginii. Unlike most Bryophyllum species, this one has a very ornamental trailing or hanging habit with thin stems and small leaves. Its red or orange tubular flowers hang in clusters and are very decorative. It does not produce adventitious propagules on leaf margins like other species in the genus. It is very popular as a hanging basket plant.

"Current accepted name: Kalanchoe manginii Raym.-Hamet & H.Perrier. It is one of the few Bryophyllum species without marginal leaf propagules, which clearly distinguishes it from the rest of the genus. Very popular in European nurseries under the name Kalanchoe manginii 'Tessa' (hybrid cultivar)."
