Bulliarda aquatica (L.) DC.

Water pygmyweed

Bulliarda aquatica, now known as Crassula aquatica, is a small annual or biennial aquatic and semi-aquatic herb of almost cosmopolitan distribution in temperate zones. It grows on muddy margins of ponds, slow streams and freshwater intertidal areas. It is one of the most unusual succulent plants for its aquatic habitat, with opposite fleshy leaves and tiny four-petalled flowers.

science

"Type species of the historical genus Bulliarda DC. Its reclassification within Crassula reflects the close phylogenetic relationship among all small genera of Crassulaceae. In central Europe it is protected due to its rarity caused by wetland degradation."
