Boucerosia maroccana Hook.f. is the historical name for this Maghreb caralluma whose currently accepted name is Caralluma maroccana (Hook.f.) N.E.Br. It is a cactiform succulent native to northern Morocco, southern Andalusia and northern Algeria, inhabiting arid scrubland, calcareous rocky outcrops and Mediterranean garrigue. Its tetragonal stems and dark star-shaped flowers are typical of Mediterranean carallumas.
