Boucerosia frerei (G.D.Rowley) Meve & Liede is the historical name for this Indian endemic caralluma whose currently accepted name is Caralluma frerei (G.D.Rowley) M.G.Gilbert. It is an uncommon species with restricted distribution in the central Deccan (Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh). Its stems are green to greyish, tetragonal, and it produces star-shaped flowers characteristic of the genus.
