Forsskål's Caralluma
Boucerosia forskalii Decne. is the historical name for this caralluma named in honour of the Danish-Norwegian botanist Peter Forsskål. The currently accepted name is Caralluma forskalii (J.A.Schmidt) N.E.Br. It inhabits arid and semi-arid zones of the Horn of Africa and the Arabian Peninsula in rocky and gravelly soils. Its erect tetragonal stems and dark star-shaped flowers are characteristic of the genus.
