Boucerosia adscendens (Roxb.) Wall.

Indian Ascending Caralluma

Boucerosia adscendens (Roxb.) Wall. is the historical name for this Indian succulent whose currently accepted name is Caralluma adscendens (Roxb.) R.Br. It is one of the most widely distributed carallumas in the Indian subcontinent, with several recognized varieties (adscendens, bicolor, fimbriata). Its erect tetragonal stems and variably coloured star-shaped flowers —from yellow to black-purple— make it variable and attractive in cultivation.
