Astroloba deltoidea (Hook.f.) Uitewaal

Delta-shaped astroloba

Astroloba deltoidea is a succulent from the Western Cape of South Africa characterized by its very pronounced deltoid (triangular) leaf shape, with marked leaf angles and a wide base. It forms dense rosettes with the 5 spiral ranks typical of the genus. Its taxonomy has historically been linked to A. congesta, from which it is distinguished by the more clearly deltoid leaf profile.

"Originally described as a variety of Aloe deltoidea by Hooker f. in 1873 and transferred to the genus Astroloba by Uitewaal. The botanical illustration by W.H. Fitch (Curtis Botanical Magazine, 1873) remains the most cited iconographic reference."
