Astroloba corrugata N.L.Mey. & Gideon F.Sm.

Corrugated astroloba

Astroloba corrugata is a recently described species (Meyer & Smith) from the Western Cape of South Africa, characterized by the corrugated or wrinkled leaf surface that gives it its specific name. It grows in the Ladismith and Montagu area, often in stony habitats alongside Curio radicans. Previously confused with A. aspera, from which it is distinguished by more precise leaf characters.

science

"Recently described species that resolves the historical taxonomic confusion with A. aspera. The populations from Montagu and Ladismith (Western Cape) are the locus classicus. Leaf corrugation is more intense in plants exposed to greater insolation."
