Astroloba bullulata (Jacq.) Uitewaal

Blistered astroloba

Astroloba bullulata is one of the most attractive species in the genus, prized for its blistered or pustulate leaf surface that gives it a unique visual texture. Native to the arid zones of the Western Cape (Oudtshoorn, Tankwa Karoo), it forms dense rosettes of dark green to brown leaves with a spiny tip. Its white tubular flowers appear on slender racemes.

science

"The pustulate leaf texture is the most distinctive feature of A. bullulata and makes it one of the most sought after by Cape succulent collectors. A morphological continuum with A. pentagona exists in zones of sympatry."
