Aridaria macrosiphon L.Bolus
Large-siphon aridaria
Aridaria macrosiphon is a mesemb endemic to South African Namaqualand, described by L. Bolus. The specific epithet 'macrosiphon' (Greek: large tube) alludes to the long floral tube shared with other species in the genus. The opposite leaves are fleshy and greyish-green, and the plant forms small creeping mats on quartz soils.

"A. macrosiphon and A. longituba represent within the genus Aridaria a convergence in the long-tube floral strategy that may be associated with pollination by specific nocturnal Lepidoptera of Namaqualand."
