Anacampseros trigona DC.
Three-angled anacampseros
Anacampseros trigona, described by De Candolle, owes its name to the botanical trait that distinguishes it from the rest of the genus: its stem has a clearly triangular cross-section (hence 'trigona'). This morphological characteristic is unusual in the Anacampserotaceae family. Its ovate green leaves form compact rosettes on this singular stem, and its ephemeral pink flowers maintain the pattern typical of the genus: afternoon opening of 2–4 hours.

"The triangular stem cross-section of A. trigona is studied in the evolutionary morphology of Portulacineae, as it represents a convergence with mechanical resistance strategies observed in columnar cacti."
