Antimima intervallaris (L.Bolus) H.E.K.Hartmann

Interval antimima

Antimima intervallaris is a small succulent shrublet from Namaqualand, originally described by L. Bolus and reclassified into the genus Antimima by H.E.K. Hartmann. The name 'intervallaris' alludes to the visible spaces or intervals between the leaf nodes on its stems. Forms low mats of woody branches covered with short compact succulent leaves. Produces white to white-pink flowers in austral spring, characteristic of mesembs of subfamily Ruschioideae.

"Species rarely photographed in public repositories; no verified images found in Wikimedia Commons. Aizoaceae specialists recognise it by the marked intervals between nodes, the feature that gives the species its name. Consultation of the Bolus Herbarium (BOL, Cape Town) is recommended for type exsiccatae."
