Anacampseros gracilis Poelln.

Slender anacampseros

Anacampseros gracilis is a dwarf succulent from the Northern Cape of South Africa described by Poellnitz. The epithet 'gracilis' (graceful, slender) describes its more delicate and stylised habit compared to other compact-rosette Anacampseros. It produces ephemeral pink flowers on slender peduncles rising above the small rosette. Like all Anacampseros, it is an endemic of the arid zones of southern Africa.

format_quote
science

"The slenderness of A. gracilis may be related to its microtopographic habitat: it likely colonises deeper crevices or partially shaded zones within quartzitic outcrops, where competition with more robust plants has favoured a slender form."
