Aloinopsis transvaalensis (Rolfe) Schwantes
Transvaal Aloinopsis
Native to the Bushveld of Transvaal (now Limpopo/Mpumalanga), this species differs notably from the rest of the genus by originating from a savanna ecoregion with summer rainfall, in contrast to the arid Karoo. It has longer and sometimes flatter leaves than other Aloinopsis, with clearly visible tubercles. Originally described by Rolfe and transferred to Aloinopsis by Schwantes. Produces yellow flowers with dark lines in winter.

"This species is unusual within Aloinopsis for its origin in summer-rainfall Bushveld. In cultivation an occasional very light summer watering may be tolerated without the damaging effects it would have on Karoo species."
