Aloinopsis rubrolineata (N.E.Br.) Schwantes
Red-lined Aloinopsis
One of the most striking species in the genus, endemic to the area around Carnarvon in the Karoo. It is distinguished by its bright yellow flowers crossed by striking red-orange lines radiating from the centre, the characteristic that gives it its name. Leaves are grey-green with small white tubercles and slightly ciliate margins. It blooms in mid-austral winter, with flowers that close at dusk and open only in direct sunlight.

"Described as Mesembryanthemum rubrolineatum by N.E. Brown and transferred by Schwantes. The epithet rubrolineata (red-lined) is perfectly descriptive. Highly valued in European and American collections."
