Flat-rosette aloe
Very popular flat-rosette aloe with spotted leaves and striking orange flowers. Widely distributed in the Karoo and semi-arid regions of South Africa's Western and Eastern Cape. It is one of the most widely cultivated aloe species in succulent gardens worldwide.

Morphology
Lanceolate leaves arranged in a flat rosette, green with whitish or yellowish spots, especially in young specimens. Margin with small cartilaginous spines.
ecoGenerally stemless; in mature specimens may develop a short, prostrate stem.
ecoBranched inflorescences with tubular flowers of deep orange to orange-red. Flowering in winter (June–August in the Southern Hemisphere).

Propagation Strategy
- 1 Separate offsets from the mother plant.
- 2 Allow the cut to callus for 2 days.
- 3 Plant in a mix of coarse sand and perlite.
- 4 Keep slightly moist until rooting.
Excellent for pots and rock gardens.
Overwatering in winter.
Every 2–3 years.
Cactus and succulent fertiliser, diluted to half strength, once in spring.
