Callithauma spathulatum Herb.
Spathulate callithauma
Callithauma spathulatum is a bulbous plant in the family Amaryllidaceae, described by botanist William Herbert in the 19th century. The taxonomy of this genus is complex: some authorities currently treat it as a synonym of Stenomesson or Clinanthus, related Andean genera. It produces brightly colored tubular flowers on scapose stems, typical of Andean Amaryllidaceae. Its cultivation is specialized and uncommon outside botanical collections.

"Taxonomic note: Callithauma is a genus whose status is debated. The revision by Meerow & Snijman (Amaryllidaceae) of 2006 and subsequent work suggest it may be synonymous with Stenomesson or Clinanthus. It is recommended to consult the Plants of the World Online (POWO) database for the most current taxonomic treatment."
