Bowiea gariepensis van Jaarsv.

Gariep climbing onion

Subspecies or species closely related to Bowiea volubilis, endemic to the arid regions of Northern and Western Cape, South Africa, especially in the Gariep (Orange) River basin. Distinguished from typical B. volubilis by its flowers with wider tepals and generally smaller bulbs adapted to more arid conditions. Considered by some authors as Bowiea volubilis subsp. gariepensis.
