Boswellia socotrana is a frankincense tree endemic to Socotra Island in the Yemeni archipelago of the Indian Ocean. It is one of the most threatened species in the genus due to deforestation, overgrazing and climate change. It produces high-quality aromatic resin used in traditional perfumery and incense. The species is a key component of the unique Socotra ecosystem, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
