Commiphora playfairii (Hook.f. ex Oliv.) Engl.

Playfair's Commiphora

Spiny shrub of arid coastal and interior zones of Somalia and Yemen. Adapted to extreme drought conditions, it produces an aromatic resin used locally. Named in honour of consul and naturalist R.L. Playfair, who collected specimens in the Horn of Africa region.
