Botanical variety of Commiphora myrrha described by Engler, endemic to Somalia. It represents the taxonomic convergence point between the entities C. myrrha and C. molmol. The resin produced by this variety is what was historically traded as 'Somali myrrh' in Arabian and European markets.

"This variety was described by Engler to designate Somali populations of C. myrrha whose resin corresponded to the commercial product called 'molmol'. The varietal status is widely questioned: many authors synonymised it with the typical species (see RN-CMPH-00012) or with C. molmol sensu stricto (see RN-CMPH-00011). The chemical identity of the resin is similar in all three taxa."
